Tip Six ~ Simply Stroll

Join the #TakeBackThanksgiving movement!

Studies have shown that for some people, the after dinner/pre-dessert period is a perfect opportunity to burn calories, aid digestion and manage blood sugar. No matter who you are, working off some of those Thanksgiving feast calories never hurt anyone!

Today, I'm sharing my sixth and final idea for how you can take back thanksgiving this holiday.

Got more ideas to add to the list? Share them with me on Facebook or Twitter.

Tip #6 ~ Simply Stroll

The dog is anxious and the whole family is debating between a short vs. long winter’s nap. How about taking a family walk instead? The benefits are endless ~ modeling healthy fitness to your children, catching up with neighbors along the way and building community bonds, and starting a new family tradition of shared activity.

If you happen to live near a scenic outdoor space, head on over to appreciate the beauty of nature and the wonder of the changing seasons. If it’s a little (or a lot) chilly out, then bundle up and when you get back home afterwards, snuggle by a crackling fire and indulge in some hot apple cider or cocoa to warm everyone right back up.

One of the best parts of a post-meal walk?

You’ve made more room in your tummy for seconds! Pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, stuffing…here I come!

I hope you've enjoyed my six days of tips for how you might  #TakeBackThanksgiving this year. Rather than spending money on cheap goods from deep discounters over the holiday weekend, I hope you'll choose to spend time with the people you care about most, doing things that bring you closer together.

From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

Liz
