Honest Pet was created by Mary Wollf in 2010, when her Yorkies got ahold of a fabric drink coaster in her living room and stumbled upon their new favorite toy. So she set out to design a similar version with safer, more durable and natural materials, and…voila! The first Eco-Fetcher was born. Based on the principles of being true to our pets, planet, and people, Honest Pet has expanded to include a full line of pet toys made from 100% natural materials.
Honest Pet provides economic and emotional support to hardworking people with cognitive and developmental disabilities who make the hemp and wool toys in Green Bay, WI and Newfoundland, Canada. The wool cat toys are handmade in Mongolia by women of impoverished, nomadic herding families living without many basic needs. Through the Snow Leopard Trust’s Fair Trade cooperative, these families earn a living with their traditional wool-working skills. In exchange, herders are protecting the endangered snow leopards that share their habitats.
